SMS were the mechanical services contractor on the refurbishment of Staffordshire History Centre.
The project involved refurbishing two Grade II listed properties: the William Salt Library and the adjacent living quarters. These properties were upgraded with new heating systems, domestic services and a Building Management System (BMS).
A new link building was constructed for the existing records office, featuring underfloor heating and heat recovery ventilation.
Additionally, a new four-storey secure records building was erected, equipped with humidity and temperature controls to preserve historical art and records. This building is heated by energy-efficient heat pumps, aligning with the client’s goal to decarbonise their facilities.
All buildings and areas are interconnected and managed through a new BMS.
